Tex and Opal Myers were second cousins to my mother (Evelyn Neeley) and introduced her to my Dad.I think my Dad (Chuck Neeley) was in the club before WWII and I currently have two of his club trophies on display in my office.  One was for 2nd competition in 1950 and the other was for 1st competition Jan - Jun 1951.  I actually joined the club myself (Bill Neeley - "Billy" - "Willy Lump") in 1960 and regularly attended those Thursday night meetings at North Hollywood Park until I joined the Navy in 1965.  Fred & Buddy Ellsworth, Tex Myers, Bud & Tommy Gowing, Jim Moffit, Al Fowler, Bruce Fair and Ed Morris are some of the wonderful people from my time.

'Also got to B.S. with Steve McQueen once at a Moose Run trophy presentation.  I rode some hare & hounds and a few hare scrambles but most of my riding was TT Scrambles with a couple of Corriganville Grand Prix races thrown in.  Acton, Prado Park, Perris and Spencer Park were the names of some of the tracks at the time.  We always enjoyed showing our "colors" on Friday nights at the Ascot Park flat track races too. I started out with an old 200cc basket case 2 stroke, saved some pennies and bought a Bultaco.

My last competitive ride was in 1967 while home on leave from the Navy.  Went out to "watch" the races at Prado Park and ended up riding Eddie Morris's 650cc Triumph Bonneville in the Open Novice Class, managing a 3rd place finish.  I used to draw all of the posters for the Moose Run.

Today, I have an XLCH 1200 Sportster that I ride to work with hopes of stretching the Wyoming summers as far as I can.
