On my wall at home is a poster promoting the Four Aces race at Prado Park in 1965 drawn by Billy Neeley. What a kick to hear he is still riding and in touch with you. Susie has me on your mailing list and each report reminds me of all those years I spent with so many good people in the Club. My time started in 1963 with a trip to Prado Park with Bud Gowing. Saw Bob "Evel" Knievel being blow away that day in the open expert class. I bought a 1963 Honda 250cc Scrambler 4 stroke at Tex Myers suggestion then went out scouting a Moose run, chased Mike Parti till he was out-of-site and flew over a cliff, broke my collar bone and bent my new bike. Bruce Fair helped get my bike back in shape but I chose to go scramblin on the "TT' tracks of the day. Chuck Neeley, Fred Phelps and Vern Fuston were some of the members who went to all the races in those first years. My best buddies were John Harrison and Chuck Fortriede. We three had Hondas and tried our hand at Ascot. I made it to Junior class and Chuck got drafted. John busted his nose in a bad wreck one night, which is the theme of Billy's poster. I was there when Eddie Morris got off real bad in the desert and never got back to the speed he used to have on the pro track. I watched the Jenkins kids grow up and saw Juanita become a real good racer. Marge Jenkins was like a Mom to all of us in those days. After Prado Park was closed, we only had Parris & Elsinore to race on. My old Honda could not match the Bultaco or Husky's of the day so I tried a couple of them and ended my carrier with the number 10 plate in lightweight scrambles. Most of the members soon after left the club and formed the Vikings.

Hal And Paul were with the club at that time as well as Al Ferdman. Of course Susie (and her dad) was active and she would scoot around on her 200cc Triumph Cub. Man that bike was slow.

Thanks for the chance to vent and if any of the old folks want to communicate, pass them my e-mail.
